Comic Book Design – 4th-8th Grade (WEEK 2)

In this camp, students will learn how to draw their favorite superheroes and then create their very own comic books! Writing, art, and individuality will be combined as students design their own characters and develop the stories for their books. At the end of camp, each student will take home a complete comic book to share with friends and family.

DIY: Lego Costume, Kindergarten-8th Grade (WEEK 4)

This summer campers will transform themselves into their favorite Lego characters. Campers will have the opportunity to design their very own Lego costume using cardboard boxes and Styrofoam. Using the counselor’s help, campers will measure, cut, paint, and glue the materials to make their Lego character come to life. Don’t miss out on a costume your child would love to make!

Enchanted Toy Workshop – Kindergarten-3rd Grade (WEEK 4)

If you think Santa's Elves are the best toy makers, then you haven't visited Mrs. Bernard’s Enchanted Toy Workshop! Every day our creative builders will get to craft one or more incredible new toys! Whether your preference is building bears, crafting cars, or designing the best costume mask, this camp will feature activities you'll love. On the final day, campers will reveal the Enchanted Toy Shop, where they can display, trade, and sell their toys, or even choose one to donate to CHOC Hospital! Enchanted Toy Workshop: Because when you build your own toys, they become treasures.

Ceramics – 4th-8th Grade (WEEK 6)

Clay, glaze, paint, and new friends will make up this week of creative artistry as campers explore the stages of clay piece production. Did you know that Camp Heritage Oak has its own kiln? This means that as campers decorate their cups, plates, bowls, etc. with paint and glaze, all of their items can be fired on-site and ready to go home and shared with their family members! If your child loves creating pottery projects at mall-type painting stores, he/she will have a fantastic time in this class!

Andy Warhol Art – 4th-8th Grade (WEEK 6)

Fun, bright colors and an array of design choices will inspire budding artists as they explore the work of Andy Warhol. Campers will learn about modern art, abstracting, color theory, and more as they design and paint their summer masterpieces that can be on display in your home for years to come!

Picasso Academy – 4th-8th Grade (WEEK 8)

Messier than most standard art classes, this camp will allow for budding artists to explore ways of painting they may not have tried before. Each child will learn watercolor and acrylic painting techniques that will guide them through specific projects involving realism, impressionism, splatter painting, and more. The class will culminate with an art show where each student will have at least two pieces on display for family and friends to see.

3D Artists – 4th-8th Grade (WEEK 9)

When most people think of 3-D art, they think of clay. In this creative class, campers will learn to think outside the box and develop extraordinary sculptures using a variety of materials. Our teacher will guide children as they extend their fine motor and special reasoning skills into the third dimension. Families will be invited to join the campers at the end of the week during our on-campus Art Show displaying all of the pieces created during camp.
