Camp Heritage Oak Experiences the Eclipse of 2017

Monday, August 21, 2017

Yorba Linda, Calif. (August 21, 2017)—Children at Camp Heritage Oak were able to experience their first solar eclipse this morning during the "Daily Activity" portion of the day. Each camper, with approval from his/her parents, was able to view the eclipse through a pair of ISO certified eclipse glasses. When not outside viewing, campers were able to watch the live eclipse via NASA on YouTube in the classrooms.

The planning for this special event was completed back in February when the summer camp theme of "Every Day is a Holiday" was announced. Each day of Camp Heritage Oak 2017 celebrates a special holiday or significant event happening on each date of summer camp. Throughout summer, campers have participated in such events as National One Voice Day, National I Love My Feet Day, National Spiderman Day, National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, and more. The Solar Eclipse Extravaganza marks the beginning of the last week of the 2017 camp program.
