Heritage Oak Students Perform at Segerstrom Concert Hall
Yorba Linda, Calif. (March 29, 2017)— Heritage Oak Private School’s String Chamber Orchestra participated in the World Strides Festival of Gold at the Segerstrom Concert Hall during the last weekend in March. The Heritage Oak orchestra was invited to participate in this National Band and Orchestra festival after receiving the “Gold” award at the World Strides Heritage Festival last year.
The Festival of Gold featured eight choirs, five orchestras, and seven bands from across the United States. Heritage Oak’s chamber orchestra, which is made up of 5th grade through 8th grade children, was the youngest participating group. The group earned an impressive score of 95 from three adjudicators during the competition portion of the event.
All of the Middle School students in Heritage Oak’s orchestra also auditioned for and were selected to participate in the event’s Honor Orchestra, which was made up of mainly High School-aged students. The Honor Orchestra rehearsed for four days, worked with four different conductors and performed in an Encore Concert on Monday evening.
“We played beautifully, despite the fact that we were a small group.” Explained Dr. Susan Suh, Heritage Oak’s Orchestra Director, “Our sound filled the entire hall and I am very proud of our students who represented H.O.P.E. (Heritage Oak Private Education) so well.”
