Inventor’s Workshop- JK-2nd AM Camp

Have you ever thought about a better way to do something? If so, you’re a problem-solver and an inventor in the making! Join us for a fun-filled week of tinkering, building, and problem solving as we learn about famous inventors and the steps they took to achieve their success. As part of our workshop, campers will be busy exploring how some appliances and machines work. We’ll examine the internals of some machines by opening up various appliances and machines to see how they function. We will also design and create a few of our own inventions. Your young inventor will also learn how to make his/her own batteries and experiment with simple circuits.

 

STEM- Books and Cooks- JK-2nd- AM Camp

Campers will have fun listening to stories and participating in a variety of crafts, food and activities inspired by the day’s story. During the fun-filled week children will work with a variety of art materials from crayons, chalk pastels, watercolors, pom pom balls, construction paper and more. Campers will also explore turning their snacks into works of art. 

 

Orchestra – 4th (Heritage Oak Students Only) AM Camp

This class will prepare Orchestra students for the upcoming school year. Students will work in an ensemble with multiple instruments and sections. They will learn new techniques with their respective instruments and focus as a group on music theory, music history, listening and aural skills, music notation, and new music terms. The week will conclude with a Mini Showcase performance

 

Phonics and Writing – JK/K AM Camp

Increase your child’s phonics and writing skills with hands-on activities. Students will strengthen phonics skills through fun-filled songs and center-based peer activities. Children will practice vowel sounds, consonant sounds, and blends each day as well as participating in spelling practice. Children will create their own sight word flash cards throughout the week, which will come home on the last day for continued practice over the summer. Journal prompts will expose children to creative writing as well as learning how to write complete sentences.

 

School Year Prep: Reading 1st-2nd AM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 1st and 2nd grade Language Arts Standards; read and comprehend grade level text, identify key ideas and details, analyze the author's craft and structure, identify and analyze features, events and characters, identify the main topic, describe the connection between two individuals, events, and ideas between texts, make self-connections to texts, make predictions and later determine whether predictions were confirmed, and identify and understand new vocabulary.

 

School Year Prep: Reading 3rd-5th AM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 3rd and 4th grade Language Arts Standards; read and comprehend grade level text, identify key ideas and details, analyze the author's craft and structure, identify and analyze features, events and characters, identify the main topic, describe the connection between two individuals, events, and ideas between texts, make self-connections to texts, make predictions and later determine whether predictions were confirmed, and identify and understand new vocabulary.

 

Digging for Dinosaurs JK-2nd PM Camp

Join the “dino diggers” this summer and explore the amazing prehistoric world of dinosaurs. This camp is a must for all young paleontologists. Campers will learn about dinosaur anatomy, behavior, and even traits that are around today through hands-on activities and projects like fossil digging, creating fossil replicas, and incredible dramatic play activities.

 

Orchestra - 5th (Heritage Oak Students Only) PM Camp

This class will prepare current Orchestra students for the upcoming school year. Students will work in an ensemble with multiple instruments and sections. They will learn new techniques with their respective instruments and focus as a group on music theory, music history, listening and aural skills, music notation, and new music terms. The week will conclude with a Mini Showcase performance.

 

School Year Prep: Writing JK/K PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet Kindergarten Writing Standards; use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose varied pieces (opinion, informative, sequenced narrative), use mapping to organize thoughts, organize ideas using pre-writing activities, focus on content not conventions, and see oneself as a writer.

 

School Year Prep: Writing 1st-2nd  PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 2nd grade Writing Standards; write with purpose , clarity, and voice, write pieces with a variety of purposes(opinion, informative, narrative), use mapping to organize thoughts, organize ideas using pre-writing activities, gather information from sources and present content, produce and distribute pieces of writing, and see oneself as a writer.

 

School Year Prep: Writing 3rd-5th PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 3rd and 4th grade Writing Standards; write with purpose , clarity, and voice, write pieces with a variety of purposes(opinion, informative, narrative), use mapping to organize thoughts, organize ideas using pre-writing activities, gather information from sources and present content, produce and distribute pieces of writing, and see oneself as a writer.
