Week 5 Specialty Camps

Yoga – Preschool/Pre-k
Yoga is great for body, mind, and soul—even for preschoolers! Campers will learn about freedom of expression, focus on various math concepts, stretch their imaginations, practice flexibility and balancing skills, learn about healthy eating, and enrich their language skills--all while learning the fundamentals of this system of exercise which is focused on health and relaxation. 

Destination: Science – Kindergarten-8th Grade
Mrs. Bernard can’t wait to take your child on a journey to Destination: Science! Bubbling dry ice, zooming cars, the effects of gravity, marshmallow catapults, Myth busting, sensory science, edible chemistry and more will all be found in this outstanding camp that explores Science’s most fascinating fields. Each young scientist will conduct amazing experiments, and will even experience the week’s grand finale – a full scale outdoor water-rocket launch and popsicle party with family members! Each student will design the aerodynamics of his/her rocket, and then watch it soar. You won’t want to miss this week packed full of science fun! 

Perfect Printing – Kindergarten
Students will practice their printing using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, letter spacing, neatness, size, and consistency. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship. 

Racket Sports – 2nd-8th Grade
Break out those rackets and come join Racket Sports this summer! Campers will learn the basic rules of Tennis and Badminton along with the fundamental skills of each sport. We will go over skills and movements such as the forehand, backhand, serving, and volley. Campers will also work on building endurance, speed, and agility through various drills. Make sure your child doesn’t miss out on all the fun with Mr. Orozco in Racket Sports!

RSPK Phonics, Fairytales, Fun  – Pre-k only
Fairytales such as The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, and the Musicians of Bremen will be the backdrop to this fun-filled camp which will focus on letter awareness and letter sound skills. An emphasis will be placed on vowels—the “glue” to the words. Children will participate in exciting games and make fairytale crafts as they explore the different sounds that the letters make.  

Archery – 6th-8th Grade
Due to the success of last year’s session, Heritage Oak is once again offering a course in the Olympic sport of archery! Campers will be taught the fundamentals of stance, nocking, aiming, and loosing arrows in a fun, safe learning environment. Compound bow mastery, compensating for weather, judging distance and terrain, and mental exercises for clarity and focus will all be covered in this exciting camp. 

Pixar Games and Crafts – Kindergarten-3rd Grade
Mrs. Lloyd is excited to work with students who love the characters from the “Incredibles”. Campers will have fun creating and designing their very own “incredible” crafts, participating in super human fitness challenges and getting involved in daily games. Your child will work on developing their flexibility, endurance, and strength in this camp. So, if your child loves to make new friendships and loves team building activities...Get Inspired!!! BE Incredible! 

Cursive Club – 1st-3rd Grade
Students will practice their cursive penmanship using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, the connection of the letters, neatness, size, consistency, and the natural slant of cursive lettering. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who have not yet learned how to read or write in cursive as well as students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship.
