Enchanted Toy Workshop- JK-8th- AM Camp

If you think Santa's Elves are the best toy makers, then you haven't visited Mrs. Bernard’s Enchanted Toy Workshop! Every day, our creative builders will get to craft one or more incredible new toys! Whether your preference is building bears, crafting cars, or designing the best costume mask and cape, this camp will feature activities you'll love. Students can build, paint, and decorate in whatever way matches their unique style. On the final day, campers will reveal the Enchanted Toy Shop, where they can display, trade and sell their toys, or even choose one to donate to CHOC Hospital! Enchanted Toy Workshop: Because when you build your own toys, they become treasures.

 

Coding Club – 3rd-8th AM Camp

This intermediate/advanced coding camp is designed for those students who have previous experience coding either from Heritage Oak’s Computer Science class or elsewhere. Campers will flex their debugging and code construction skills as well as experiment with various coding languages including Scratch, Swift, and Python to solve programming puzzles, create apps, or even design a basic video game!

 

 Nailed It! 4th-8th- AM Camp

Have you ever seen the show Nailed It! on Netflix? Get ready for a little friendly competition! Campers will participate in a competition where they will try to recreate cool and exciting cakes, cookies, and other treats by being the decorator. They will get to use frosting, sprinkles, and other toppings to make incredible looking desserts. After a round of voting and a winner being chosen each day, the campers will get to enjoy their delicious desserts! Let’s make some edible masterpieces!

 

Perfect Printing -JK-1st- AM Camp

Students will practice their printing using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, letter spacing, neatness, size, and consistency. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship.

 

Debate Bootcamp- 6th-8th- AM Camp

Do you like to argue? Do you like to win?  Learn to shift your perspective to argue both sides, so that you never lose a debate again!  This bootcamp will focus on the basics of debate using the AREI method.

*Prerequisite: Public Speaking Camp

 

Mo Willem’s Math and Literature Jk/K AM Camp(NEW)

Students will practice basic math skills including: addition, subtraction and graphing. Literacy lessons will include several writing activities and a persuasive letter. All activities will center around the fun-filled Mo Willems wildly popular and well-loved Pigeon books. 

 

Project: Run an Ice Cream Truck 1st/2nd AM Camp(NEW)

Looking for an engaging and challenging summer project based learning task to enrich your student? This is a perfect math challenge for students during the summer and they'll love getting to run their own “ice cream truck”. Students will love getting to work within a budget to run their own ice cream truck - the treats, toppings, supplies and more. Students will practice many math skills while learning to work within a budget. They'll finish the project by designing their “truck” and menu, as well as selling and serving ice cream on Thursday! 

 

Project: Run a Pizza Shop 3rd-5th AM Camp (NEW)

Looking for an engaging and challenging project based learning task to enrich your student? This is a perfect math challenge for students who need a challenge or enrichment, and they'll love getting to plan for and run their own pizza shop! Students will love getting to work within a budget to “purchase” ingredients for their pizza parlor. Students will practice many math skills while learning to work within a budget. They'll finish the project by selling and serving pizza on Thursday! 

 

Future Filmmakers Jk-8th PM Camp (NEW)

Where can you find acting, film-making, costume-design, and a red carpet Oscars event in the same place? Mrs. Bernard’s Red Carpet Movie Magic Camp! We will select a director, actors and costume and set designers for our film, then the students will film it, and by the end of the week, the students will look their best to attend a Film Premiere and Oscars Event in which they’ll watch their completed film AND receive hard-earned trophies for their work in the creation of the film! This camp will be a dream come true for your actor or movie-buff! Lights, Camera…. ACTION!

Robotics – 4th-8th  PM Camp

Robotics combines engineering, science, and technology skills to create machines that perform tasks and solve problems! Using VEX robots, campers will unlock the power of their imagination by designing and constructing remote-controlled robotic devices. Students will learn the concepts of Machine Intelligence, which is found in almost all the devices and machines around us, from cars to home automation to smartphones. The students will work to design the robot, build it, and move it by remote control. They will learn about robot sensors, which enable the robot to “feel” its environment. Finally, they will learn programming in order to give the robot an ability to perform some defined tasks autonomously. Robots are only limited by your imagination! 

 

Princess Camp 1st-3rd PM Camp (NEW)

Who doesn't want to be a princess? This week your little princess will learn all about the different princesses, participate in fun princess crafts, participate in special princess training and etiquette, and finish the week celebrating with a princess tea party in their best princess gowns! 

 

School Year Prep: Reading JK/K PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet Kindergarten Language Arts Standards; identify different types of texts (fiction, non-fiction, poetry), understand the roles of the author and illustrator, identify key ideas and details, compare and contrast features, events, and characters with prompting and support,  identify unknown vocabulary, identify verbs, and actively engage in small group and peer reading groups.

 

School Year Prep: Reading 1st-2nd PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 1st and 2nd grade Language Arts Standards; read and comprehend grade level text, identify key ideas and details, analyze the author's craft and structure, identify and analyze features, events and characters, identify the main topic, describe the connection between two individuals, events, and ideas between texts, make self-connections to texts, make predictions and later determine whether predictions were confirmed, and identify and understand new vocabulary.

 

School Year Prep: Reading 3rd-5th PM Camp

Students will work on concepts that meet 3rd and 4th grade Language Arts Standards; read and comprehend grade level text, identify key ideas and details, analyze the author's craft and structure, identify and analyze features, events and characters, identify the main topic, describe the connection between two individuals, events, and ideas between texts, make self-connections to texts, make predictions and later determine whether predictions were confirmed, and identify and understand new vocabulary.

 

Through My Lens- Photography and Writing- 6th-8th- PM Camp

Do you have a passion for photography, a love for writing, and a creative itch?

This class has it all! We will be exploring photography while taking our own photos and using our own photography art to inspire creative writing!  Dive into a world of creativity through your lens and with a pen in hand!
